Goodrich Corp. (NYSE:GR) has received its first production order for the SiIMU02® inertial measurement unit (IMU) from Turkey's Roketsan Missiles Industries Inc. The IMU is used to facilitate precision guidance of Roketsan's new CIRIT 70 mm (2.75 in.) laser guided missile for attack helicopters. The IMUs will be produced at Goodrich's facility in Plymouth, UK. CIRIT is one of the first missiles in its class to incorporate the SiIMU02 inertial sensing unit package. The production order follows successful customization and qualification of the SiIMU02 package for CIRIT in 2011. At a fraction the size of legacy IMUs, the SiIMU02 package offered the flexibility for adaptation to Roketsan's mechanical and electrical interface needs.
